About me

I am an integrative counsellor working with adults who are feeling overwhelmed by their feelings, finding it hard to trust themselves and others, feeling anxious and/or depressed due to past traumas, current/past relationship issues or work related stress and may be having some good days but are finding it hard to cope with their bad feelings.

I have worked with clients experiencing a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement, loss, self-harm, trauma, abuse, financial difficulties, relationship problems, divorce, struggling while caring for loved ones and work/employment problems.

If you are feeling helpless or hopeless, wanting to confront things that have been bothering you for a long time but have been bottling up or ignoring; if you find it hard to forgive yourself for past behaviours or actions or perhaps you just want to offload and get past bad stuff that has happened then I can help you.

My aim is to provide a down to earth, yet challenging service where we build a relationship that focuses on you and what you need. I use a few different counselling approaches and will flex and bend how I work depending on what you bring into our sessions.

**Free initial, no-obligation 20 minute chat to find out more about each other**

I have been practicing as a counsellor for several years and have a background in supporting people with "everyday" problems as well as those living with enduring mental health difficulties.

We will explore whatever you choose to share and, together, gain some insight and clarity. I offer a safe, calm, open and compassionate space with no judgment about what we discuss.

Where we have trust, openness and a strong human connection, we can gain some understanding about what is troubling you and look at how you might like to feel differently. We'll work at your pace and explore whatever you choose to bring - it is your therapy.

What to expect from counselling

Each session lasts 50 minutes and we meet weekly. For some people 6 - 12 sessions is all they need. For others, who wish to explore more, counselling can continue for up to a year or more.

What we talk about in counselling

It doesn't matter if you don't know where to start. As your therapist it is my job to help you find your way and we may start by looking at how you're feeling in the here and now. This is a great way to begin therapy and often leads us to why you decided to see a therapist and what's happened in your life up to this point.

For some people, the first sessions is all about offloading everything on their mind, and that is also OK. There is no set agenda or script we need to follow; we'll follow whatever feels natural and comfortable in the moment.

How to get started.

If you have any questions or would like to book a session, you can contact me by clicking here to to arrange a free 20 minute chat, or just give me a call on 07949 846895.

We can find out a little bit about each other and you can ask any questions you may have about me or the counselling process. We'll discuss timings, price, confidentiality etc and then book in our first therapy session at a time that suits us both.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

"Antonia provides a really excellent service, she really listens to what you say without judgement or expectations and offers really insightful feedback and comments. Starting counselling can be very daunting but from our first session she made me feel at ease and it felt comfortable to share my thoughts and feelings with her. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone".  Anon 2022

"I highly recommend Antonia for individual therapy. From the get go she was transparent and understanding and I was able to express my concerns with past therapists and how we would work through them. I also appreciate Antonia’s honesty and compassion throughout our sessions". Anon 2021

"I have worked with Antonia over the last year and have made great progress. She is very professional and friendly and I would highly recommend her. There was a smooth transition onto zoom with Covid 19 and is working really well".  Anon 2021

"Antonia made me feel at ease as soon as I met her. She has helped me deal with some very difficult issues & I will remember her for the rest of my life for her amazing work.
Antonia made me feel very much like it was 'our' journey, not just mine alone & always put things into perspective for me.
I would recommend Antonia without a doubt as she has literally changed my life". Anon 2019
