About me

We are all currently living through difficult times, away from people we love. Work situations may be different and as a result financial situations may be different too.  Most things that we class as normal have now become restricted or disallowed. Counselling sessions are mostly offered through phones or video calls which is understandably difficult when you are in a house where you have not got a confidential space. I have therefore taken the decision to offer outdoor counselling.  I have a large marquee set up to allow for any weather. There is also a lot of space to offer social distancing but at the same time offering face to face sessions. Please email for further details.

I am a BACP registered Humanistic Counsellor working in the Selby area, 15 miles from York and 15 miles from Goole. I am within easy reach of the surrounding villages such as Wistow, Escrick, Cawood and Sherburn. I run a private practice from my rural home. It is a unique counselling space offering complete privacy as well as a peaceful and therapeutic environment. There is easy and free parking.

Contacting a Counsellor can be daunting. There is so much choice, so many different forms of counselling and so many different Counsellors to choose from. All of this when perhaps you are feeling lost, confused, anxious... Remember, there is no right or wrong. Take your time to find what is right for you. I offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation in order for you to have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and to establish if you would like us to work together.

I work in collaboration with you, at your own pace. It is my belief that each individual is unique and as such I offer an integrative approach to suit you. I am very open in the way I work, valuing integrity and freedom. I mostly work from a light, airy and peaceful counselling room, but there is also the opportunity to work outside. Working outside can feel less intimidating. Clients have reported that they find it peaceful and tranquil. There is the opportunity to go for a walk in the countryside, or simply to find a seat in the 4 acres surrounding us. I aim to offer a safe space for you to explore what is happening in your life.

I am happy to help you with a wide range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or work issues. I have a lot of experience working with bereavement and also chronic conditions such as ME/CFS.

Coming from a background in Business Management, I understand the pressures of work, family and relationships. I have also worked as a holistic massage therapist. I therefore recognise how the mind can effect our bodies. For instance you may feel a knot in your stomach when you are feeling anxious. I am originally from Sweden and as such have a great understanding of cultural diversity.

What ever you are feeling right now, please remember you are not alone. I offer a confidential empathic space for you to be heard.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accessibility

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
