About me
I am a Person Centred Counsellor and Supervisor with 23 years experience. I have had my own practice for the past 16 years. With regards to counselling, I have both private clients and work for a number of national EAPs (counselling agencies) who contract with companies and refer employees to me. I work with both long term clients and short term (up to 8 /10 sessions). I believe that the person centred model, built on the personal relationship, in which I offer the Core Conditions of Empathy, Unconditional Acceptance, and Transparency, which enables a client to access their feelings, find their own solutions and develop their potential as a human being. I will also use cognitive based strategies where necessary,as part of therapy, but always in negotiation with the client. I also believe in the integration of mind and body in terms of the therapeutic process, especially with trauma.
I have experience in working with issues such as depression, anxiety.low self esteem. abuse, trauma, relationships, work stress, and bereavement. I also work with couples.
As a supervisor I work with both qualified counsellors and counselling trainees from university and college courses.
I am available during the day and evenings at my home address in Lytham st Annes, and during the day only at a room in Preston. I am happy to discuss any aspect of my work. including a free 30 min introductory chat, in person.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
In recent years I have been especially interested in trauma, both one off incidents and multiple ie developmental trauma. The training I have has enabled me to understand more of the integration of mind and body in the healing process of trauma therapy. Working with somatic (bodily) experiencing in various presenting client issues can be an essential part of the therapy. The work of Peter Levine and Babette Rothschild have been important in this respect.
I also have specific interest in depression, anxiety and relationship issues inc couples
At present I am awaiting the result of my Accreditation application with BACP
