About me

A very warm welcome to The Love Clinic. I am Andrea Tibbitts, a BACP Accredited, and Internationally Certified, Relationship Psychotherapist and Coach. Whether you would like to experience greater happiness, or improve your relationship with yourself, your partner, or members of your family, I am here for you.

It would be my privilege to come alongside you with sensitivity, acceptance and compassion.  With so much uncertainty in the world around us, it is vital that we all have the secure base and safe haven of healthy and happy relationships. You deserve to live a life you love, and this is your time.

As an individual, you may be unhappy in your situation, or stuck in a behavioural pattern. Maybe you are struggling with low self-esteem or stress. Whether you have a tendency towards more anxiety or depression, or both, you do not have to do this journey alone. It is costly for any of us to be in emotional pain, and especially so if we feel unsupported. So it is my heart to come alongside you, and help you come home to the true version of you. Whether you are seeking relationship support on your own, or you are struggling with some aspect of your own life, The Love Clinic is here for you.

I have helped couples with increasing distance and distress, escalating fights, marriage breakdown, the discovery of an affair, separation, loss of libido, a discrepancy in sexual desire, domestic abuse, anger management, conflict resolution, differences in parenting, and feeling that they no longer liked each other, let alone loved.

You might be struggling in one of these hard places in your relationship. Maybe you wonder whether you are actually compatible, or whether you can find your way back from the current distress and distance. Maybe the two of you are divided on whether or not you even want to try... If you identify with any of these then my heart goes out to you, and I would like to offer you the support and strategies you need to potentially transform your relationship from distress to success.

Or maybe your family dynamic feels stuck with no one quite getting their needs met. It is common for the tension to be between two people in particular, but it is likely that you are all suffering.  Maybe what you tried so far has not brought results, in fact, it may have exacerbated your painful experience.  If this sounds like your situation then family therapy can be powerful to deal with the root issues, and finally bring a shift towards connection.

Whether the whole family is willing to attend an initial session, or just certain family members, this therapy focuses in particular on working with the dyads where there is distress. This opens up the potential to completely transform the repeating dynamic and improve the atmosphere in your home. The Family Therapy service is offered to family members aged 13 upwards.

Whatever recurring unhappy cycles you are stuck in, within yourself or with others, my heart goes out to you. It would be my privilege to help you break through to greater freedom and fulfilment. My hope is to empower you so that your heart can lead as the best you. ‘Come home to happy’, and flourish as an individual, as a couple, and as a family.

Training, qualifications & experience

I first qualified in Psychodynamic Counselling in 1995, and went on to hold the position of Addiction Treatment Programme Manager at a Priory Hospital.  This first sparked my interest in the significance of attachment, and led to my decision to specialise in relationships. After training in Couple Therapy in 2012, I worked for Marriage Care, Relate, and then a private London Clinic over the last few years. Overall I have had the privilege of supporting hundreds of clients and delivered thousands of client hours. My online clients have been in 12 different countries.

As well as being Accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I am also Certified by the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Individual Therapy (EFIT), Couple Therapy (EFCT) and Family Therapy (EFFT).  This modality has long been proven to have one of the highest success rates for sustained outcomes in working with relationships of all kinds.

In addition to the above training I have completed a year's specialist Couple Therapy programme at The Couples Institute on Attachment and Differentiation and Neuroscience.  I am qualified too as both a Life and a Love Breakthrough Coach, as well as trained to Level 2 in The Gottman Method.

For those couples where one is leaning in and one is leaning out of the relationship, I am trained to offer Discernment Counselling, an alternative option to Couple Therapy. This involves 1-5 individual sessions with each partner to explore how the relationship reached this point and how each has contributed. The goal of this process is to establish at the end of this short process whether or not Couple Therapy could be a helpful way forward.

I have dedicated my career to becoming a love expert, to help clients like you. It would be my privilege to seek to make your relationships the best that they can be, with yourself, with your partner and with your family. I will come alongside you with sensitivity and compassion, without judgement or agenda.

You are welcome to reach out to me for a free 15 minute telephone or video conversation, and you will be met with TLC at The Love Clinic.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
