About me

Hi, I’m Aminah Teague.

I'm a counsellor that helps anxious people understand and work with themselves.

Maybe it feels like:

  • You convince yourself of things that you know aren't true, but you can't help feeling them.
  • You read into your interactions with people.
  • You're constantly wound up and unmotivated.

Perhaps it's time to:

  • Drop the mask and open up to people.
  • Feel confident that you can cope with whatever life throws at you.
  • Understand how you operate and know how to work with it.

It can be tempting to try to cope on your own or reassure yourself that it will pass.

Maybe it's eased in the past but then got worse again. There are reasons for that.

The answers are in you and I can help you find them.

Work with me by getting in touch.

Testimonials

"Kind, open and honest. Aminah made me feel at ease from the first moment and opening up very simple. Attentive to my needs, understanding of my limitations and helpful where it counted. I'd highly recommend her service to anyone. Thank you for all you did for me." - JL

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I was with Aminah for just under a year and through that time I was not only grounded, but validated. I started with a lot of uncertainty about many aspects in my life and hesitation towards seeing a counsellor due to negative past experiences but I could not be happier I stuck with it.

Aminah was extremely patient and kind, she was reassuring and recognised when something wasn't right and made specific ways to work that would benefit me best.

Each session I was listened to and guided in a way that made me feel comfortable. There was never any pressure to speak about topics that I didn't want to and everything was worked through slowly (at my own pace) and with reassurance.

I came away from counseling feeling a lot more positive about how to handle my anxiety disorder and trauma and feel as though I can move forward positively, using methods that she has taught me. It was an extremely valuable time for me and it is very comforting being able to walk away knowing the door is always open should I need to return." - RB

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
