About me

Hello, I'm Amanda. I provide online or face-to-face counselling to adults over 18. I am based near Woodbridge, Suffolk.

I offer sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, including evenings. I also offer Saturday morning appointments. Please let me know if your family or work commitments are making it difficult for you to arrange counselling and I will do my best to arrange a mutually convenient time.

People seek counselling for help with a wide range of issues, including stress, anxiety, depression, loss, anger, addiction, work problems, and conflict in personal relationships. Whatever you are struggling with, I can help you explore your emotions and make sense of them so that you can feel better and move forwards.

I understand how difficult and daunting it can be to contact a counsellor when you are struggling or feeling overwhelmed. I offer a free initial online or telephone consultation of up to 30 minutes to answer any questions you may have and to discuss your needs. You can also read more about my practice and how counselling can help on my website.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified counsellor with a BSc Honours Degree in Integrative Counselling awarded in 2012. I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow the principles, values and good practice standards set out in their Ethical Framework.

It is also a requirement of the BACP that I undertake ongoing Continuing Professional Development to inform and develop my practice and to ensure that I work to the highest professional standards.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
