About me

I am an proficient BACP registered counsellor providing long-term and short-term therapy to adults (18+) in a safe and comfortable space. I offer face-to-face or online therapy.  Life throws us all challenges from time to time which can sometimes feel overwhelming.  My goal is to support you through these challenges and help you to understand how they impact your daily life, feelings, behaviours and thoughts.

Counselling can help provide an understanding of how past experiences may impact you in the here and now and together we can explore how your past might impact your feelings, thoughts and behaviours. You can bring to sessions whatever is on your mind. Together we can explore the challenges you face in a space which supports you, facilitates growth and empowers you. Counselling can bring about positive and lasting change, which in turn can help us enjoy life and relationships more fully.

My counselling approach is humanistic and built on the psychotherapeutic foundations of Transactional Analysis. I also bring creativity into therapy for those who relate to working creatively; including drawing, painting and sand tray work.

I work in a safe, trauma-informed way and provide a welcoming space for all clients. I work with the LGBTQIA+ community and embrace difference and diversity in my practice.

As well as running a private practice, I practice voluntarily in a service supporting people who have been affected by domestic abuse and sexual abuse. I provide a safe space to help clients explore how their past trauma experiences affect their daily lives, helping them to gain an understanding of their feelings and behaviours. I also provide bereavement support to clients at a local hospice.

Every individual is unique and I therefore recognise the need to carefully tailor my work to the individual’s needs, offering both short-term and long-term therapy.

I provide particular expertise in treating issues related to childhood sexual abuse, sexual abuse and domestic abuse, relationship and family issues, bereavement and any form of loss, sexuality and gender issues, impact of retirement, stress and many other issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
