About me

If you’re feeling anxious, lost, low, sad, or you think you might be depressed, and you’re looking for someone who will listen to you, support you, and help you make sense of what’s going on in your life, please get in touch.

I put respect, listening and integrity at the heart of what I do. I offer you a confidential, safe and supportive space to talk about your feelings and what is going on in your life.

Sometimes problems can happen quite suddenly after a life event like a loss, bereavement, financial and work worries, or a relationship break-up.

Sometimes it feels like the problem has always been there but it’s got worse, or that now is the time to act.

Whether the problems are new, or feel like they have always been there, I will work with you to process what's going on today, how that might relate to things that have happened in the past, and how you can make changes to live a more fulfilling life in the future.

I'm an experienced, qualified and BACP-accredited therapist (MBACP Accred). I work with people who have anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, panic attacks, relationship difficulties, social anxiety, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, stress, feeling sad and depression among other issues.

I believe that no matter how tough and upsetting life feels right now, there is hope, that we can work together to help you move forward. Perhaps, by looking on this site, you're saying to yourself that you want things to be better, that you have hope that they can change.

If you have questions about how we could work together, I am very happy to have a chat on the phone or by email, with no obligation. We can then arrange an initial consultation session.

I am available to see you in-person in Clerkenwell, London EC1 (near to Farringdon and the Angel Islington in London N1) and in St Albans, a few minutes walk from St Albans City train station.

Online (Google Meet, WhatsApp, Zoom, Skype, FaceTime etc) and phone sessions are available.

I offer long-term, open-ended therapy or short-term, depending on what is best for each client and what works for you. It's generally once-weekly but we can discuss that being more, or less, frequent if you wish.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist and an accredited member MBACP (Accred) of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I abide by its ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy.

I am a psychodynamic counsellor registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC).

I have an MSc in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Counselling from Birkbeck, University of London.

I have worked with MIND and with Sutton Counselling, a community counselling service.

I have a Diploma in Psychopathology from Confer in London.

I have a Certificate in CBT Essentials, level 2, from the Association of Psychological Therapies.

My first training was psychodynamic, which is a way of understanding a person's current difficulties in the light of relationships and experiences earlier in their life. Sometimes these can be causing disturbances in ways that are not immediately apparent so we work on bringing unconscious feelings into conscious thought.

Although I am not a CBT-focused practitioner we might use some thinking from that modality in our sessions together where it feels helpful and appropriate.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
