About me

At times, life can be challenging, and you may have lots of anxieties and worries whirling through your head. Perhaps you struggle talking to loved ones about your sadness or depression. It can feel lonely and debilitating when you appear to be stuck, with no way to fix the issues that are overwhelming you.

Reaching out for therapy might seem scary and daunting at first, however it doesn't have to be that way. As an experienced therapist, I’m here to help you feel listened to. I will provide a compassionate and non-judgmental space where you feel safe to voice and explore those worries and difficulties.

My practice

As well as individual, one to one therapy for adults and young people, if you’re having relationship problems with your partner, I also offer counselling for couples. For couples therapy, you can attend either on your own to explore issues concerning you personally or attend together. I will not take sides - therapy allows you both to be heard.

Each session lasts around 50-60 minutes for both individual and couple work. I offer time limited (6-12 sessions) and longer-term counselling.

Working with a diverse range of clients means that no counselling experience is the same. Having trained in person centred, CBT, relational and trauma informed therapeutic approaches means that I can tailor my counselling methods to suit your needs. I will work collaboratively with you as well as give you the time to develop the skills and confidence to understand yourself better and to make positive changes in your life.

Areas of counselling

Over the years, I have worked with many clients on issues such as anxiety, stress, low mood, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, PTSD, abuse, low self-esteem, loss of purpose and loneliness, as well as offering support with issues around cultural and racial identity. I’ve worked with clients who may not know what is bothering them and found that therapy work has been successful in helping them to unlock that uncertainty.

I’m a fully qualified psychotherapist who is a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means that I follow their code of conduct and attend supervision as well as receive regular CPD training to ensure I practise in an ethical and responsible way. My practice is inclusive and welcoming to all.

Finding the right counsellor is really important for sessions to be effective. If you're still feeling unsure about what happens in counselling, I can provide an initial 20-minute free telephone consultation before you start. You can contact me on 07900471088 or email adele.kingc@gmail.com. I aim to reply to your call or email within 24 hours so please do get in touch.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
