About me

I am an experienced psychotherapist and counsellor. My consulting room is near central Oxford, however, at the moment I am only working remotely (online or by phone).

If you are interested, contact me by phone or email. Then the first step will be an initial appointment (we can decide whether to 'meet' online or by phone). The aim of that session is to allow both of us to see how we feel about working together, and to enable you to decide whether you want to continue working with me.

I aim to provide a safe, non-judgemental, empathic and confidential environment, in which people can talk about whatever they want, explore their experiences, discuss their problems and difficulties, decide what they want to change, and consider how to cope with what they can't change.

My approach is based on Transactional Analysis (TA). TA provides ways of looking at people's history, psychological make-up, the unhelpful patterns they tend to repeat in their lives, and the ways they relate to others. It is suited both to short-term goal-focussed counselling, and longer-term more exploratory psychotherapy. Commonly people who contact me are experiencing some feelings of anxiety or depression, or struggling with relationship issues or family issues. My approach is well suited to working with people to help change these problems and stop repeating unhelpful patterns in life. I also work with people who are simply dissatisfied or uneasy with their lives and want things to be different.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified and registered psychotherapist, registered by the UKCP.

I have a diploma in Transactional Analysis psychotherapy, and am a Certified Transactional Analyst (the international qualification in TA), with a psychotherapy speciality. I am also qualified as a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (psychotherapy speciality).

I am a member of the UK Association for Transactional Analysis. I work within the ethical codes of the UKCP and UKATA.

I am also qualified to teach and supervise TA, as I am a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst, with a psychotherapy speciality. I am on the UKCP supervision directory.

I am the Lead Tutor for TA courses at the Iron Mill College in Exeter, Devon.

UK Council for Psychotherapy

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
