About me
With more than 22 years experience, I am acutely aware of the complexities of relationship and understand how easy it is to get ‘stuck in a rut’ and/or develop destructive relationship patterns - which can wear you down and leave you wondering ‘How did we get here?’ and ‘Can we really do this anymore?’
That’s why I am passionately committed to working with couples in a safe and structured manner. Using a highly effective dialogical model my focus is on helping you and your partner establish a new way of being in relationship with each other so you can:-
- dissolve conflict and frustration
- establish a shared co-parenting style
- deepen connection
- create a shared relationship vision
- re-ignite the passion
Whether you are looking for a way back from an affair; feeling disconnected and overwhelmed by the demands of children, family and work; constantly fighting and at odds with each other; or just needing some long overdue ‘timeout’ to reconnect, this style of therapy has the potential to offer you a space to re-establish your relationship in a whole new and exciting way!
I work with relationship issues, family issues, affairs and betrayals, child related issues, couples issues, abuse, pre-nuptial counselling, cross cultural relationships, separation and divorce, emotional abuse, sex problems.
Please note: As of 16th July 2024 all session are on zoom until further notice. Many thanks.
Training, qualifications & experience
I spent 5 years training in psychotherapy at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education where I successfully completed a Post Graduate qualification. Subsequently I qualified as an Imago therapist and Coach. I am registered with the UKCP, a BACP member and gained my certification in Coaching through Results. My business background includes working in PR, Marketing and Personal Development providing me with first-hand experience of the pressures of the commercial and corporate world.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
When working with couples/relationships I use the principles of Imago and Encounter Based Couples Therapy. Simply put it is a coaching model that focuses on changing the way you communicate. You do this by learning two new core skills - the Dialogue and Crossing the Bridge.
The first step is learning how to 'Cross the Bridge'. The second is learning the Dialogue which allows you to create safety so you can explore ways to:-
- Re-structure frustrations
- Re-vision your relationship
- Resolve rage; and
- Re-image your partner, yourself and the relationship.
It is a brilliant way of working as it can be used to navitage a wide range of issues such as co-parenting, affairs, sex, decision making and even divorce.
It is highly transportable and can be used within the wider family too - opening doors for parents and children to establish new safe ways of communicating with each other when issues arise.
