About me

People often wonder if their issues are important enough to seek counselling. I believe that if you are feeling overwhelmed and your emotions are bothering you then it is right for you to get help.

The time that you spend in counselling will enable you to make sense of the feelings that control you. It will help you to gain an understanding of the basic emotions and to learn coping mechanisms, so it does not feel like a struggle to put one foot in front of the other to move forward.

As human beings we understand how important relationships and our emotions connect us to each other and the benefit that it brings to us. When we experience distress, confusion, isolation, or other negative feelings, then being able to explore this in a supportive, non-judgemental relationship can help.

I will work alongside you to build a trusting relationship whilst working to your needs, at your pace and from your perspective. I will endeavour to create a warm and empathic space. Whether you would like to explore the past, the future, or the here and now, I will listen to you and help you find a way for change.

I am a person-centred counsellor which means that you will be my prime focus. I believe connection with others is an incredible resource. I will support you so that you understand yourself and to be able to have the means and coping mechanisms to feel able to connect in ways which are more emotionally engaging. We will always work in a confidential and supportive setting.

I offer long-term individual therapy, or can work to time-limited schedules. I work on the telephone only. Once contact has been made, we can arrange a suitable time for an Initial Consultation (no fee) and discuss your reason/s for approaching Counselling and explore your expectations of how we will work together.

I mostly work on a Wednesday and a Thursday and sessions will usually be at the same time each week. However, I am more than happy to discuss flexibility around your working patterns and other commitments such as family, so we can find the right arrangement for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
