About me
Seeking help from a mental health professional may feel daunting for many reasons. Sometimes it’s hard to find the words to describe how you’re feeling, or to know who to turn to. Perhaps you’ve been facing certain challenges for some time, or there have been recent events that are causing you distress. My aim as a therapist is to provide you with an environment in which you feel safe and understood as we explore the challenges you might face, and to support you in a process of self-discovery and self-acceptance.
I help clients develop understanding and compassion for themselves, and enable them to overcome difficulties, make changes in their lives, and experience improved wellbeing and self-esteem. Feeling heard and understood can be the most important step towards positive and lasting change, and I am here to help you find your way.
My specialities include neurodivergence, trauma, family dynamics and eating disorders.
Training, qualifications & experience
Originally trained as a Music Therapist, I practise as a Talking and Creative Psychotherapist. I use conversation and creativity to help my clients unlock thoughts and feelings that might otherwise feel inaccessible, or too difficult to verbally express. A client might express themselves using words in talking therapy, and/or may wish to explore their thoughts through any combination of music, art, writing, and other creative expressions. I work together with a client, accommodating their needs and preferences, to find new ways of processing feelings and self-reflecting. Clients do not need to consider themselves a ‘creative person’ to have therapy with me. The use of creativity remains optional, adaptable, and client-led, so that a client is able to express themselves in their own time, in ways that feel comfortable.
I am trained as a psychodynamic and integrative practitioner. The therapy I offer is person-centred, which means sessions are facilitated in a holistic way, that focuses on you as a whole person. Beyond my private practice, my work has included supporting adults, adolescents and children in NHS and private mental healthcare services, educational settings, and neurorehabilitation.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
