About me

Hi, my name is Tracy, I offer nature based therapy as well as face to face, phone and online sessions. Any issues that are affecting your life adversely, however large or small they may seem to you, are important and together we can explore ways to help you move towards a more balanced and happier life.

During our lifetime one in four of us will experience negative thoughts and feelings that can leave us feeling overwhelmed and floundering. It can feel like an insurmountable struggle to deal with current situations or unresolved issues from our past. I know that seeking out a counsellor is a brave decision to make. For you, it can be hugely beneficial to talk to someone who will listen and wants to understand what you are experiencing, in complete confidence and without judgement. This allows you the freedom to be open and honest during your sessions. I can help you to understand the challenges that life can throw at us, discovering the inner resources that are within you. Counselling can help us to explore different ways of communicating our feelings and needs and gently challenge our existing beliefs.

I offer you a place of acceptance, compassion and warmth in our sessions that can allow you to explore safely the difficult and often emotionally challenging issues that you may be struggling to deal with.

Reasons for coming to counselling

There are many reasons why we may seek help through counselling:

  • Bereavement
  • Depression
  • Obsessive thinking
  • Low self-esteem
  • Relationship or family issues
  • Phobia
  • Stress or anxiety
  • Physical, emotional or sexual abuse
  • Trauma
  • Needing to make changes in your life - divorce, work, change in circumstance
  • Sex & sexuality

These are just a few of the issues that you may need help with, and my aim is to work with you in exploring ways to help you move towards a more balanced and happier life.

I am a qualified Integrative counsellor and psychotherapist with a flexible and holistic approach in my way of working and tailor counselling sessions to suit your needs.

My counselling room is located in a quiet corner of my garden, a safe, private and tranquil space. I offer a free initial session to establish whether I am the right counsellor for you. Sometimes demands on our time mean that daytime sessions can be hard to attend and I also offer evening sessions.

Connecting with nature

I have always been a firm believer in the restorative and healing benefits of being in nature and many of my clients find walking/talking therapy a welcome change that allows for easier engagement and exploration, as well as releasing physical tension and regulating our mood. A nature therapy walk, mindfulness in nature or working indoors with natural materials can be creative and freeing ways for us to engage with our emotions and connect with our environment. I am fortunate to be able to offer clients a variety of walks in the surrounding area if you so wish.

At the core of my practise is the belief that you are the expert of your own life and for me hearing and understanding your story is the most important part of our relationship. With focus on the therapeutic relationship, my goal is to enhance your sense of wellbeing and ability to thrive and to provide you with the techniques to do so.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
