About me

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist, EMDR Therapist and Couples Counsellor. I am an Accredited member of the BACP and a member of the EMDR Association.

As an Integrative Psychotherapist I am able to use many varied techniques as I feel that each individual has different needs.

I'm able to integrate EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) into my normal therapy sessions. I am able to do EMDR Sessions in both 60 and 90 mins depending on the individual. All couples sessions are 60mins.

I believe that therapy is relational and therefore it is important for every client to feel safe and comfortable with me.  This is why I speak to you for a short call before booking in the assessment session and then the assessment session is a place for you to see if I'm the right person for you to work with.

I specialise in trauma, loss, anxiety and relationships.

I am currently working mainly online but I am able to see people face to face from my Newcastle address. I am available Mon-Fri between 8.30am-5.30pm for Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp video, Teams & Telephone sessions.

Prices are £60 for an hour session for talking therapy and EMDR. Couples sessions and 90 min sessions are £90.

I have worked in private practice since 2018, currently I am also working for the NHS via Xyla Digital Therapies and also with the charities Lancashire Women and Problem Shared. In the past I have worked alongside the NHS, Cruise Bereavement and St. Christopher's Hospice in Sydenham.

Please see my website for more details:www.tabithatherapy.com.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered Accredited member of the BACP which means that I adhere to their code of ethics which can be found on their website.

I trained with EMDR Works and am now an EMDR Therapist and members of the EMDR Association. I am working with EMDR for the NHS via Xyla Digital Therapies and for the charity Lancashire Women with patients who have PTSD and Complex PTSD.

I did my Couples Diploma at CCPE which is transpersonal and looks at the relationship as being the client and working.

I did my foundation training at CCPE and my advanced diploma at CPPD both organisations are BACP accredited and can be found in London.

Although I have lots of experience in most of the areas of counselling I now specialise in anxiety of any kind including panic attacks, abuse of any kind, trauma, PTSD & CPTSD, ASD & ADHD and Bereavement.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
