About me

I am currently taking on online clients and will be back in my office for face to face sessions in September.

I am an Integrative Counsellor and Accredited member of the BACP. Integrative means that I am able to use many varied techniques rather than just one. I feel that each individual has different needs and I am able to adapt to meet them. I also believe that therapy is relational and therefore it is important for every client to feel that I am the right person to help them.

I specialise in Loss. If we think about it loss is usually at the heart of each issue for example anxiety is loss of control, relationship issues may be due to loss of communication. I have a lot of experience with both anxiety and depression issues, relationship and family dynamics and bereavement, however this list is not exhaustive.

I provide sessions via my office in Berwick-upon-Tweed on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday between 9am-3.30pm. I am also available for Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp video sessions for those who are unable to travel to my office I have availability throughout the week for these and can do early morning or later afternoon/evening for those who have work commitments. Due to some areas having poor internet connection and for clients who are not as technologically minded I offer telephone sessions as well. Similarly to online sessions I am able to do these throughout the week. Do get in touch to discuss this further.

I have worked in the Bereavement sector with both Cruse Bereavement Lambeth and St. Christopher's Hospice in South London. I also worked with the NHS Lambeth and saw patients with numerous presenting problems from anxiety and depression through to identity issues. I have recently moved to Northumberland and have set up my private practise please see my website www.tabithatherapy.com.

I find that discussing requirements over the phone and then doing an initial session before booking in a block is a good way for those who have not been in counselling before to see how they feel and if they would like to continue.  It is important that you feel safe and comfortable with me in order to gain the benefits of counselling.

Training, qualifications & experience

I did my foundation year at CCPE which was Transpersonal counselling and psychotherapy. Transpersonal counselling has a more spiritual (not religious) element to it which I have found very useful in my bereavement work.

I decided after my foundation year that I didn't feel that therapy was a one size fits all so I moved across to Integrative Therapy at CPPD where I completed my Diploma and Advanced Diploma.

I am a registered Accredited member of the BACP which means that I adhere to their code of ethics which can be found on their website.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
