Tabitha Appleby MBACP
I am an Integrative Counsellor and Registered member of the BACP. Integrative means that I am able to use many varied techniques rather than just one. I feel that each individual has different needs and I am able to adapt to meet them. I also believe that therapy is relational and therefore it is important for every client to feel that I am the right person to help them.
I specialise in Loss, which doesn't purely cover bereavement but also redundancy, self esteem, identity, control, relationships and many more emotional situations. Loss can also be connected to anxiety and depression which I also work with frequently. These are not the only areas I cover.
I provide sessions via my office in Berwick-upon-Tweed on Tuesdays, Wednesdayd and Thursdays. I am also available for Skype sessions for those who are unable to travel to my office I have availability throughout the week for these and can do early morning or later afternoon/evening for those who have work commitments. Due to some areas having poor internet connection and for clients who are not as technologically minded I offer telephone sessions as well. Similarly to Skype I am able to do these throughout the week. Do get in touch to discuss this further.
I have worked in the Bereavement sector with both Cruse Bereavement Lambeth and St. Christopher's Hospice in South London. I also worked with the NHS Lambeth and saw patients with numerous presenting problems from anxiety and depression through to identity issues. I have recently moved to Northumberland and have set up my private practise please see my website www.tabithatherapy.com.
I find that discussing requirements over the phone and then doing an initial session before booking in a block is a good way for those who have not been in couselling before to see how they feel and if they would like to continue. I offer face to face, Skype and telephone counselling depending on your needs and availability.
Training, qualifications & experience
I did my foundation year at CCPE which was Transpersonal counselling and psychotherapy. Transpersonal counselling has a more spiritual (not religious) element to it which I have found very useful in my bereavement work.
I decided after my foundation year that I didn't feel that therapy was a one size fits all so I moved across to Integrative Therapy at CPPD where I completed my Diploma and Advanced Diploma.
I am a registered member of the BACP which means that I adhere to their code of ethics which can be found on their website.
