About me

Why choose me?

Extensive experience: I combine my years as a senior NHS nurse with my counselling training, knowledge, passion and experience.

What can you expect from our sessions? In our sessions you can expect an insightful, warm, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship.  Keeping you and your needs at the heart of every session.

Holistic Approach: My core training was in Humanistic Integrative Counselling which means that I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches to tailor our sessions to your unique needs. The flexibility allows me to adapt to the changes you undergo as we work together. Looking at the interplay of your early, as well as current, life relationships and experiences can help you understand the reasons for any current distress and help you make sense of your challenges. This can be the platform for changes that can have a positive impact on your whole life.

Specialisms:

Emotionally abusive personal or work relationships: Together we can work to understand your experiences; validating your feelings and, through compassion and self-compassion, return you to a place of safety and self-worth. Realising the reality of a challenging relationship can fill you with grief, for what you have lost and what you may lose. To work through this you need true empathy, time and a sense of safety to say anything within the counselling relationship and work through your distress.

Life Changing and Life-limiting conditions: Providing support where you need it to help you, or your loved ones, cope with serious illness. My background in nursing in an acute field, also working with life changing and life-limiting conditions, enables me to offer compassionate and knowledgeable insight.

Stressful work environment: Especially within healthcare settings. I understand the unique pressures faced by healthcare professionals and can provide you support to help you manage stress and maintain your wellbeing.

Grief and Loss: Helping you navigate the complex emotions associated with bereavement as well as the grief that comes through changes in important relationships.

Parental Alienation: Helping you cope with the devastating loss and impact of those feeling that they are suffering from Parental Alienation. Helping you learn coping mechanisms, gain insight and go forward to live a life of hope and rebuilding of relationships.

Empathic insight: My own journey has given me unique insights and empathy, enhancing my ability to help and support you. I understand the transformative power of a safe, holding, warm and entirely non-judgmental therapeutic relationship. Working through painful and distressing experiences, within a safe therapeutic relationship, can give you renewed strength and a return to feelings of joy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
