About me

Hello. I'm Sue and I'm a counsellor and psychotherapist working online across the UK.

I offer online counselling to give you the flexibility to meet from your own home or chosen safe place. Many clients report that the opportunity to meet from their own space reduces the time requirements for each session and in particular the added mental load of planning and travelling. This saved time and energy can be directed towards preparation and processing each appointment.

I'm an integrative therapist which means that I use a wide range of models, techniques and ideas to fit as closely as possible to your needs as they grow and change.

In looking to explore counselling you may be facing a specific challenge or perhaps have the feeling that things just aren't right; that you're working very hard just to appear ‘okay’.

Do your thinking patterns no longer seem to work for you? Perhaps you have you suffered trauma or neglect in the past and are struggling with the way you see yourself? Are you are investigating the possibility of neurodivergence e.g. ADHD or autism? Are you in a difficult relationship or perhaps having difficulties setting boundaries that keep you safe within relationships? Are you struggling to come to terms with loss or bereavement?

If you've been hoping to confide in someone; to have someone fully prepared to listen; to explore with you and to support you through change then do get in touch. In a safe, non judgemental space we can work to untangle what is going on, look at how things might change and perhaps develop strategies to foster your recovery and wellbeing and feel more wholly yourself.

Pretending to be 'fine' can be exhausting. I believe that recovery from mental distress requires compassionate understanding as well as a valuing of your experiences and who you are. Clients have described me as compassionate and kind as well as nurturing  and challenging.

Further information

I understand that taking a step to ask for support can be daunting. I've been described as warm and approachable, though, so do get in touch to explore without judgement what therapy might offer you, or visit my website to find out more about how I work.  You can contact me by email or phone with any questions or to book a first meeting.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
