About me

Hi there, my name’s Sophie and I’m a Person-Centered Counsellor who works with issues around self-esteem. How are you feeling right now? Do you feel like low self-esteem is affecting every area of your life, or that you’re really confident in a lot of areas but when it comes to one thing in particular you just feel like a completely different person? Low self-esteem can be so impactful, we can feel incredibly stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, a crippling need to people please, feeling unable to say no, always feeling like you’re bottom of the list with everyone and everything coming first. You may feel unheard, unseen, overlooked, taken for granted. Even a feeling of complete disconnect from yourself, unable to connect with the person you felt like you used to be or want to be and unsure of how to reach that person.

I believe that we all hold the answers to our problems inside ourselves, it really may not feel like it now, but through therapy you can find a space and time, to start getting back to you, or discovering the person you want to become that you know is inside you.

In sessions with me I will provide a safe, non-judgemental space where everything is open for discussion. I want to hear about your stresses, worries, fears, insecurities, problems, wants, needs, goals and outcomes. Together we will explore how your world feels for you right now, how it’s always felt, what your relationships with people have been like, how you relate to people and how you feel they relate to you. I will act as your mirror to help you see your blind spots, pull out reoccurring themes or patterns that show up for you to look at and work through if you choose to.

I want to celebrate your break throughs, your reflections and when things feel like they’re starting to make sense to you. There are moments in counselling that are lighter, humour is incredibly important to me, and I believe it holds a valid place within practice. So, if you want to share happy, fun moments in your life with me I always feel honoured to hear about your triumphs and successes, I am here for it!

The number of sessions you choose to have will always be dictated by you, as well as what we explore and work with each session. I don’t work with an agenda or a deadline, but I work very closely with what you bring to the session to really explore what’s coming up for you.

I understand that approaching counselling can feel daunting and scary, so it’s important to me that I am trauma informed in the way I work. I believe in offering a calm and grounded environment for my clients. These are your sessions, so I want to ensure the space feels safe and comfortable to you.

If you want to find out more about sessions with me or have any questions, please feel free to email, text or call. If I miss your call, leave your details and I'll return your call as soon as possible. Don’t forget to check your junk or spam folder for my response when submitting an email enquiry 😊

Take Care,

Sophie.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
