About me

Welcome,

I'm interested in understanding what brings you here today? Feeling Overwhelmed? Anxious? Stressed? There could be many reasons why you’re looking for a therapist, or it could be just one. Whatever the reason it’s a big leap forward, so congratulations for taking that first crucial step. Counselling provides a unique opportunity to focus on you, whilst enabling you to support yourself outside the therapy space.  Discovering traits within yourself can provide you with a deeper understanding of who you are and positively impact you, and the relationships that surround you.

It’s a pleasure to meet you, im Sophia I'm a BACP registered counsellor. I'm passionate and highly experienced in conducting talking therapy. My personal experience of grief led me to therapy,  this process propelled me forward with my life and enabled me to train as a practitioner.  I feel  privileged to be able to  help others process traumatic life experiences. I'm qualified  in integrative counselling and psychotherapy. This provides me with many different skills and approaches across the psychotherapy and counselling umbrella. Integrative therapy isn't a one size fits all approach. I tailor  my work to the needs of the client, drawing on various counselling methods.

The relationship between client and Counsellor has been found to be one of the main factors to successful therapy. With that in mind, I'm committed to providing a safe space to explore your feelings, thoughts, and behaviours with no judgement and build a natural therapeutic alliance. I offer warmth and empathy so we can work together to process challenging thoughts and emotions at a pace that ensures independence of oneself is the long-term goal.

People work hard and make investments all the time in other relationships. How about investing in the most significant relationship you will ever have: in yourself. The most beneficial investment you can ever make is in you!

My passion to understand, your drive to progress along with my extensive tools in integrative therapy, will ensure that we work collaboratively to help you achieve your goals.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a  qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I have an experienced background in supporting people in a variety of settings with complex health, emotional and physical needs. I’ve worked in Secure units, supported housing, and work in the community sector. Having an background in  Psychology, I'm naturally  curious in people, the mind and  behaviour.

My current position enables me to connect with people from diverse backgrounds with multiple barriers and complexities.  I'm Continually building and maintaining positive trusting relationships with people and organisations.  My work consists of identifying the barriers people face, working collaboratively to lessen them so their goals and ambitions can be achieved. Being personally affected by grief, I aim to enable my story and experience to help others affected by grief.  I do this  by facilitating a peer support group for people effected by bereavement. This has given me a deeper understanding and knowledge of the complexities people face with loss.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
