About me

Hello and thank you for looking at my profile.  Are you finding life a struggle at this time?  Perhaps you are  experiencing difficulties with your mental health,  which may have worsened due to  a recent event or experience . If so, may I explain how I have helped others who have recently been struggling with difficulties ?

I work in a way which compliments who you are, and what you need. I am an integrative counsellor, which enables me to use various strategies to tailor my approach to suit you as an individual. Life can at times feel challenging, particularly when experiencing disappointments, the loss of a loved one, relationship difficulties, redundancy, illness, depression, anxiety or perhaps a traumatic experience is still haunting you.

I can offer you a non-judgmental, supportive and confidential space where therapy could consist of talking through problems, acknowledging feelings ,some people find that looking back to past behaviour patterns and core beliefs, which may have taken their toll on your sense of well-being can be helpful. Ultimately this can lead to increased self-awareness which can help you to connect with your life’s purpose. Some people prefer to use art, images or the written word, when finding talking difficult. Younger clients often engage in play as a therapeutic aid. If a client wants to look forward then a solution focused time limited approach may be more helpful.  Often a small change can have a big and positive impact on a difficult situation. I have additional training as a life coach, allowing some clients to work in a more solution focused way to move forward with their difficult situation.
I have trained to work with both adults, teenagers and children. Before I worked as a therapist I  worked as an art teacher in primary schools.  In addition, I have completed extra training at the Place2be charity, which enables me to work with primary school children and teenagers.

As well as seeing private clients, I works as a counsellor for depression in the NHS Talking Therapies and am a counsellor at Oakleaf Enterprise charity in Guilford.
I am an accredited registered member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I adhere to the BACP’s ethical Framework for the counselling professions.

Sessions are 50 min long and happen once a week at an agreed time. The number of sessions  required will vary and depend on the client and their circumstances. I often work in 6 session blocks, and always have a review to discuss progress with clients.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
