About me

When looking for a counsellor it is important to develop a relationship where you can trust and share your experiences.

So imprtantly firstly here is a little bit about me.  I work with both adults and adolescents and also supervise counsellors in training and when qualified.

My pre counselling work has been in schools specialising in additional needs. Domestic abuse support work and family court systems.

What do I offer as a counsellor?

As a counsellor, I believe we need to create a space together where we can explore your thoughts and emotions and explore what you want life to look like.

Sometimes we can be blocked and don't know what this starting point looks like or the end point.

This could be looking at a specific event such as a relationship ending, bereavement or at other times a looking at your past and upbringing or current relationships with others or adoption.

Personally I believe this is particularly true when looking at life though a neurodivergent lens.

My main counselling focus areas are working with neurodivergent clients, relationships/attachments to others, domestic abuse, C-PTSD and I am adoption trained.

I often work with clients who identify as autistic and/or ADHD.

We are all unique in this but having a shared experiences that can help establish a better way of working

These can appear as CPTSD, relationship difficulties, parenting, sexuality exploration and rejection sensitivity disphoria.

I recognise how difficult it can be to begin to open up about current and past experiences and the ongoing impact. I always say to  clients all counsellors have been clients too. So we have been there and often go back there as clients ourself.

I can offer sessions on Zoom or walk and talk.

What can I offer as a supervisor?

As a supervisor, there is equal importance in developing our working alliance and a balance of client work, personal support and career development.

I work with adult counsellors in private practice and agency. Those counselling in schools, senior management teams within schools and Thrive leads.

I welcome counselling students both on adult and CYP training for personal therapy or supervision alongside their course and am happy to enter into a four-way contract with you the agency and training provider. I hold both my L6 cpcab Supervision qualification and a L6 in counselling children and young people.

We all start training as a novice an experienced, informed, reflective, supportive supervisor is key to support you developing into an ethical and confident counsellor.

Until summer 24 I am working online due to building works. If you require face to face as part of your course this is something we can discuss as I have some access to other therapy spaces.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
