Supervision details

My supervision style is adaptive and pluralistic. I am keen to support counsellors to progress in their careers, especially into private practice or CYP. Not only am I there to support your client's work but to help you develop in areas you are interested in. My aim is to together develop that working alliance so you can bring the successes and feel okay to bring parts of our work we reflect on and think ah I could do that differently.

Humour is part of my work and I am neurodivergent this means I like an open dialogue where we regularly review what your needs are and how we are working together. It allows me to support you to reflect on your client's work through a different lens and shine a light into corners that may have been missed.

As a counsellor I work in schools and in private practice so have a variety of clients and experience. Especially with neurodivergent clients, domestic abuse, CPTSD and bereavement.

Having had some amazing supervision over the years I made the decision to qualify with CPCAB having supervised for Cruse both in groups and one-to-one.

My first session

Initially, we would have a conversation to see what your needs are and how we could work together. It is important that your relationship with a supervisor fits well or there is a risk of non-disclosure.

Once you may like to work together then we look at your background, needs, and wants from supervision. From how you like to represent clients and models of supervision that could match you and your clients you being.

Regular reviews ensure we are meeting needs and supporting any changes or refocus as you develop as a counsellor.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
