About me

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist and counsellor working with adults. I work face to face and this can be either short term (6-12 weeks) or longer according to your wishes and needs.

I provide a containing, safe, space to help you talk and explore difficult thoughts and feelings .and to reflect on your past and present experiences. We will work together to try to understand the issues you may be struggling with, or unhelpful patterns of behaviour, and make sense of how these may connect to previous experiences. Through this work you may achieve a greater awareness of yourself, learn how to manage difficult feelings and think about how to bring about change.

Training, qualifications & experience

I completed my training  at Birkbeck, University of London and hold an MSc in psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy.

As well as my private practice I work with a charity for older adults and for a community counselling service. Previously I have worked with university students.

I am a registered member of the BACP and I abide by their code of ethics. I am registered with BPC.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

My practice is mainly face to face and I work in Islington, North London. When you contact me I will get back to you as soon as possible to  discuss what you are looking for and to arrange an initial consultation.

Our first meeting will be a 50 minute consultation to find out more about what has drawn you to counselling and what you are hoping to gain. We can decide if this way of working is right for you, and if we feel we can work together. If we decide to continue we will meet weekly at the same time for 50 minutes.
