About me

Hi, I’m Sara. I wonder what has brought you to my page and how we might work together?  There are times in life where we feel stuck, sad or lost and counselling gives you a space to process and work out what you feel and why you feel it. You may also be able to find new ways of doing things to make positive changes in your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

My primary training is as a person centred counsellor. This means that each session is unique to you and your needs. It’s my job to help you feel comfortable and at ease in the session. The counselling relationship is built on trust; in time you will trust that I can provide the safe, calm and confidential space for you to talk freely. The goal is that we work together to find your answers.

Perhaps you never thought you’d come for counselling. Compassion for yourself and the impact that life has had for you is key to your own wellbeing. Using my training in Compassion Focussed Therapy we can help you develop a new understanding of things that have hurt you, the loss and sadness it has caused you and how your brain and body are doing their best to help you survive. Through therapy you can begin to thrive again.

In addition to private practice, I have eight years experience of providing 1:1 counselling and psychotherapy in our NHS for adults with anxiety and depression arising from a myriad of life events and situations. I am an Accredited Counsellor with BACP and an Accredited Psychotherapist with IPT UK. With this wealth of experience I know I can offer you the safe, compassionate and therapeutic space you are seeking.

If this sounds right for you, please email me to arrange a free half hour assessment session. With no obligation, we can meet to see if I am the right therapist to help you at this time.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
