About me

Hello and welcome! My name is Sam. I'm a registered Mental Health Nurse and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist - also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). I provide online therapy sessions working with adults over the age of 16 who might be struggling with a range of mental health difficulties including anxiety and low mood.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a tried and tested form of therapy and has been shown to be effective for working with negative thoughts, stress and worry, overwhelming emotions, lack of motivation, physical tension, panic attacks, difficulty sleeping, avoidance and procrastination, perfectionism, low self-esteem and negative body image.

The key idea behind CBT is that we can sometimes get 'stuck' in negative thought processes and patterns of unhelpful behaviour which have a detrimental impact on how we feel. In therapy, we will gently explore how these thought processes and behaviours are impacting your life and consider what the alternatives might be - offering you a way to break the cycle of anxiety and depression and ultimately live a more meaningful life.

I endeavour to bring warmth and compassion to every session, creating a safe space for you to be your authentic self. We will work collaboratively on your individual goals and at a pace that suits you. There is not a 'one-size-fits-all' approach when it comes to therapy, so every session will be tailored to you. I will also draw on a broad range of therapeutic approaches that fall under CBT including Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).

I am fully qualified and accredited with a range of professional bodies including the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). This means that I am responsible for upholding very high standards of professional practice and have strict guidelines to follow to make sure that I am offering you the best available support at every step.

I appreciate how scary and intimidating it can sometimes be when reaching out to someone new for the first time - especially a therapist! Having said that, if you are wanting to take the first step in moving in a more meaningful direction, I am here to help. Please reach out to book an initial consultation which is completely free.

I will aim to reply to all enquiries with 72 hours - please check your junk box as my emails often seem to end up in there.
