About me

Well done for looking for therapy, i don't yet know what brought you here but taking a step into therapy is the best thing you could do to change your life.  Well done.

I offer a safe and non judgemental space for us to explore the issues that are causing you concerns.  This at times means holding a mirror up to ourselves and reflecting on what has influenced our lives.  I ensure we can go to the places we need to go and to say the things that need to be said.

I am a qualified and experienced integrative counsellor based in Wellington, Somerset. I offer face to face, virtual and phone counselling to adults that is tailored according to their needs. I have over 30 years of experience in helping people in crisis and with anxiety, depression, low mood, low self esteem, relationship issues, attachment issues, childhood trauma and bullying, self-harm/suicidal thoughts, addictions loss and complex grief.

I am also a qualified REWIND practitioner and have helped clients who were suffering from PTSD to stop the flashbacks.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), fully insured and supervised. These measures ensure I am fully compliant with the BACP Ethical Framework for good practise.

I have a full adult and child enhanced DBS checks.
I have been in practice in Somerset since 2018.

I believe that the relationship between the client and counsellor is the most important aspect of counselling and no matter how good the counsellor is if the client does not feel safe, held and understood then they will not benefit from counselling.

I create the environment for a therapeutic relationship to flourish in a positive way, this encourages my clients to build trust and allows us to explore issues that they are finding it hard to reveal to others or themselves.

Please feel free to contact me for an informal discussion about counselling and my approach to see if this is the right "fit" for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

The first step is to see if we can fit and work together.

I feel this should be an open conversation about what counselling is, how I work and to see if this approach is one that you can work with.

I can call or send a link through for us to speak for 1/2 an hour and of course this is without obligation or charge.

Absolutely nothing to lose just drop me a message and I will sort out the rest.
