About me

You may be feeling stuck or overwhelmed by specific experiences or circumstances, or you may be unsure why you don’t feel happy. Perhaps this feeling that something is wrong is recent or you might have been struggling with it for a long time. Our environment, and the ways that we are seen by other people, can leave us feeling pressurised, dismissed or misunderstood. Together, we can work to explore and understand your experience, allowing you to process some of the painful feelings which have left you feeling distressed.

How we can work together

Working sensitively at a pace that suits you, we can explore how you are feeling without judgment. Acknowledging your social reality, we can also be curious about unconscious beliefs which have created patterns of thought that no longer serve you, and we can work together to release those patterns, freeing you to move forward. Evidence demonstrates that engaging with another person in a relational style of therapy allows the potential for deep change, rather than managing symptoms.

Issues I specialise in

I am a fully qualified and insured counsellor and psychotherapist with particular interest and experience in working with childhood trauma, family (including sibling) issues, disability and chronic health conditions. I have ample experience of working with anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, abuse and relationship difficulties.

My approach

My core training is in psychodynamic psychotherapy, although I draw on a humanistic therapeutic foundation to combine the rigour of psychoanalytic understanding with a warm, empathic approach which meets you where you currently are. I am a Registered Member of the BACP and I abide by their ethical framework, including ensuring your confidentiality.

Free consultation

I work over Zoom, or by phone, and can offer both short-term or open ended therapy depending on individual needs. Embarking on a therapeutic journey can feel daunting, and finding the right therapist can be difficult, so I offer an initial no-obligation 15 minute Zoom consultation. This is an opportunity to discuss any questions that you may have and to think about how we might work together. Please do get in touch and we can arrange to talk.

I hold some low-cost spaces for those who need them, please enquire for further details.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
