About me

I've worked as a counsellor for bereavement and suicide respite services, so I've had a lot of experience working with grief and loss, depression and anxiety, suicidal thoughts, burnout and stress and complex family relationships.

You might have a clear idea of what you would like to work on, or you might be unsure; you might just know that something needs to change and you want some help to figure out what that is. Let's just have a chat and then you can decide if you would like for us to work together. We can meet online or in my counselling room here in Marsden.

Training, qualifications & experience

My past experience includes years spent volunteering at Maytree Respite Centre, supporting people experiencing suicidal thoughts, and counselling for a bereavement service in Islington.  I earned my Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of East London in 2018 and then I relocated to West Yorkshire and started my counselling practice here. I'm a registered member of BACP.

As a counsellor and coach I’m experienced at working both face to face and remotely online or via telephone. I can work at great depth with you on difficult emotions and thoughts, or we can focus attention on strategies and immediate planning, whichever you prefer.

I also have an extensive professional background working with artists and musicians. For 14 years I worked at senior leadership level in two national music organisations where I specialised in building and leading professional development and coaching programmes for artists and composers.

Drawing on my extensive background in music and the arts, I have delivered training in a range of organisations and academic institutions. I have worked as a coach, trainer and facilitator for many cultural organisations including Trinity Laban Conservatoire, The London Philharmonic Orchestra, The National Theatre, The Southbank Centre, The Barbican Centre, The Royal Academy of Music, Snape Maltings, Sound and Music, Jazz North, Ty Cerdd and Cardboard Citizens. Many of my current clients are involved in the creative industries in some way, either as artists, producers or both. I continue to work in the arts as a volunteer; here in Marsden I am Chair of Trustees of the Marsden Jazz Festival.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
