About me

Hello, I’m Rebecca and my aim is to provide you with a safe, confidential space where you can feel heard and understood.

I will listen carefully and empathically to whatever you bring, and support you in exploring, at your own pace, your thoughts, feelings, and any difficulties, past or present, to help build a deeper understanding of yourself and your issues, alleviate distress and make choices that are right for you.

I believe that the quality of the relationship is at the heart of successful therapy and I am committed to building a therapeutic relationship with you based on trust and openness, that offers an opportunity for growth and healing.

I aim to facilitate a space where you can explore your inner world, tune into your feelings and get you know yourself on a deeper level. Together, we can start to untangle what you're experiencing, to give feelings a name and work out what's going on for you, so that you can find more meaning, make effective changes in the way you want to live your life and discover your inner strengths and resources. I believe the process can help you heal and recover from past difficulties and lead a fuller life.

I offer both short-term and long-term, open-ended counselling to adults.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am trained in the person-centred approach, focusing on the belief that you are the expert on yourself and on your own life, and can overcome issues and flourish, given the right support.

I trained at the well-respected Metanoia Institute and I have a degree and a diploma in person-centred counselling. I am a registered member of BACP and abide by its code of ethical practice.

I have experience of working with a wide range of issues, including depression, stress and anxiety, bereavement and loss, life transitions, relationship and family issues and low self-esteem.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
