About me

Hi, I'm Rachel and I'm a qualified counsellor offering face to face and online counselling for adults over 16 years old and couples in English and Welsh.

We can all experience times in our lives when we feel that the demands of life are too much for us to cope with. This can result in us feeling depressed, anxious or overwhelmed. These challenges often bring up feelings from our past which can impact our current relationships.

I provide a safe, compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can talk freely and confidentially about the difficulties you are experiencing. I will support you to process and make sense of what you are going through and we will work together to find a way forward.

I work relationally with clients which means that the supportive, trusting relationship between us is an important part of our work together as we explore strengths, resources and new ways of relating to yourself, others and the world.

My therapeutic work is founded on the belief that you hold the answers to your questions inside you. My hope is that, by creating an environment in which you feel heard and validated, you will start to find the answers to your questions.

My core training is in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and I integrate theories from other modalities to suit each individual depending on their needs and preferences. My training allows me to use a range of therapeutic options which can support you to make the changes you want to make in your life. I am also qualified to practise the Rewind Technique which is an approach that is considered effective in helping people to process traumatic experiences.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and The United Kingdom Association of Transactional Analysts (UKATA). I adhere to their ethical frameworks and as such receive regular supervision of my work by a UKCP and BACP Accredited Supervisor.

I am insured and have a current DBS Check.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
