About me
Using EMDR, hypnotherapy, CBT or just 'talking' therapy, I offer down-to-earth, common-sense therapy tailored to your individual needs and circumstances, in a purpose-built therapy practice designed to help you feel relaxed and at ease. I specialise in trauma, particularly related to sexual or domestic abuse, and PPU (problematic pornography usage). I also work with single-incident trauma, such as an assault or a road traffic accident.
Although I'm educated to Masters level, with a range of practical qualifications, too, I believe my life experience is my most useful asset when helping people. We are human, first and foremost; we are all learning how to navigate this life, and sometimes we can find ourselves struggling and we need a little extra support to get things on track.
Trauma: trauma often results from a one-off incident, such as an accident or an assault, and EMDR can remove the emotional reaction that these traumatic events leave us with. However, trauma can also be less obvious; it can arise from being raised in an unhealthy environment or being in a relationship with an abusive partner, and we often don't even realise that we have experienced trauma. Whatever the cause of your trauma, we can work gently to reduce the impact this is having on you and enable you to move forward with your life, feeling lighter, happier and more content.
Problematic Pornography Usage: if you are concerned about the amount of time you are spending viewing pornography, or you find yourself viewing material that doesn't fit with your values, I can help you overcome this and regain control of your life. This is a lot more common than people think; more than 50% of my clients attend to this issue, and it destroys lives. If you are struggling, please get in touch and we can work to resolve the issues that have been maintaining your usage, and ensure you can live a more fulfilled life that doesn't make you feel bad about yourself.
I have trained in multiple 'techniques' because I believe that no one method can help everyone and most clients benefit from a varied range of techniques and modalities. Therapy is tailored to you as an individual depending on your circumstances, so what we do together will be based on what is best suited to help you, the client, as well as what you are comfortable with.
Sessions are for one full hour and I usually see clients on a weekly or fortnightly basis. This can be at a regular time and day, or flexible depending on your needs and circumstances. I work face-to-face in my purpose-built therapy office; I prefer not to work online, but will make an exception, in some cases.
If you would like to book a session, or would just like to find out a bit more about what I can help you with, please send me an email and I'll get back to you as soon as I can, but always within 24 hours.

Problematic pornography use is sometimes referred to as porn addiction. You might not realise your porn use is problematic, but if you've tried to stop and can't, or if you find yourself turning down social events so that you can stay home and watch porn, you might have a problem that you could use some help with. Problematic porn use can result in our preferred genre changing; if you find yourself viewing material that doesn't fit with your view of yourself, I can help you overcome this and get back to a healthier relationship with the internet.
