About me

I am a BACP Registered Psychotherapist and Applied Child Psychologist who provides short and long-term counselling.  I have 14 years experience of providing counselling and psychotherapy in the NHS and the third sector.  I work in private practice in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham and Leicester.  I am able to offer in person and online appointments.

As an integrative practitioner, I am trained in using a number of therapeutic modalities to suit each individual's therapeutic needs. The therapeutic modalities I use include: Humanistic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic and Mindfulness.  The premise of my work involves building a therapeutic alliance in a safe space, to explore the underlying concerns, which in turn can empower an individual towards effective change and an improved sense of well being.

I offer therapy for a range of psychological difficulties including: depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, the effects of trauma and abuse, low self-esteem, bereavement, substance misuse and domestic violence. I also provide support for individuals wishing to focus on personal development.

I offer clinical supervision on a 1-1 and group basis.  I have experience of working within different therapeutic modalities.

How to get started?

Commencing therapy and finding the right therapist can be daunting. I am aim to respond to your message within 24 hours of receiving it. Please feel free to telephone me so that we can have a brief, no obligation, conversation about what you would like to get out of counselling and ask any questions about the counselling process. We can then make a decision about whether we can work together before you commit to regular on-going counselling.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
