About me

Hi. Thank you for opening my profile. I came into counselling to help and support people and that is what I can offer you.

I have also completed additional training to be a clinical supervisor for both counsellors and other people working in the helping professions.

Here  are some of the clients voices that have recently attended & ended counselling:

'When I first found Pippa, I was not in a very good place, with her professionalism, care and expertise she  enabled me to climb out of a very dark hole.  I felt I was listened to from the very start and felt very comfortable and relaxed to share any personal worries/concerns.'

Testimonial August 2023 from a female client with employment stress.

'My son received 6 consultations, and his communication within the family improved after his first visit. He spoke highly of Pippa and said she was understanding and very easy to talk to'

Testimonial August 2023 from the parent of a 16 year old male with social anxiety.

About me?

I am a registered member of BACP, working with adolescents (14+) and adults with kindness and compassion. I work collaboratively and draw upon Person-Centred counselling, Transactional Analysis and Motivational Interviewing to support clients achieve their full potential both in counselling and life.

I have a calm, accessible and relaxing counselling space in Frolesworth (near Lutterworth/Hinckley): 7 miles from A5.  11 miles from Leicester.  Courtyard premises with views of open countryside & lake.

*walk & talk sessions available if outside counselling preferred.

Areas of special interest: stress, depression, generalised anxiety, neurodivergence (ADHD & Autism), illness & disability, parenting support and confidence/self-worth difficulties.

I work with young people (14+), students and adults.   I have significant experience with people whom have a life limiting condition and terminally ill working with a local  and national cancer charity.

Having worked as a school nurse and more recently at DMU as a counsellor, I am able to relate to people who are feeling like no-one understands them. Students & individuals in the workplace experience difficulties:

·       As they transition from school/college.
·       Through exam pressure & academic stress.
·       As they explore their identity.
·       With their self-esteem.
·       Understand relationship & dynamics.

Covid19 impacted people greatly & for some it has led to a hopelessness about the future and an overall distrust of life.

I have a special interest in neurodivergence (ADHD & Autism) and counselling people who have or are having difficulties navigating life or their family dynamics are affected by their actual or potential neurodiversity.

I have worked in specialist palliative care as a nurse and carer: caring for people who are living with & dying from a terminal illness within their homes.   This is why I feel comfortable to offer counselling for people at home who are unable to access my practice.  I have volunteered at a local cancer charity counselling patients and family members for 3.5 years.  I have also worked nationally on an emotional support line for suicide prevention and combatting loneliness, supporting people with long-term mental health issues, suicidality, low self-worth, depression and anxiety and post covid-19 difficulties.

Working within three local and national three charities offering emotional support, crisis telephone support and counselling has been very rewarding: helping everyday people at difficult times.

Areas of special interest: generalised anxiety, neurodivergence, illness & disability, parenting support and confidence/self-worth difficulties.

Individuals £45/hr: Discounted rate for students & concessions available.  1.5hr sessions available (& helpful for some clients): £65 for 1.5hr.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Here are some special areas of interest & expertise:

Exam preparation
2024 exam season will soon be upon us.  Counselling & support can really help a person to focus and also identify difficulties with learning styles that can impede revision.  Talking through educational options, future opportunities and worries can relieve pressure upon a person or their family.

Neurodivergence
Counselling that is designed to meet the needs of people with Autism, ADHD & sensory sensitivities.

1 in 67 people have Autism, many people are living with adults or children with neurodivergent conditions.

Relationship difficulty
Whilst I do not work directly with couples: I have found that working with one person within a relationship or family can shift and shape the dynamics to improve the wellbeing of a household.

Not being heard in NHS
Post Covid19 many people are finding it hard to explain themselves to medical professionals and have been really suffering with worsening physical or mental health: and unsure of how to move forward.

Combining my nursing, support and counselling knowledge has smoothed peoples pathway to getting medical or psychological support on the NHS.
