About me

I create a safe and supportive space to listen deeply to your concerns. If you are struggling to overcome painful experiences or you simply want to develop your potential and to live more fully, it can be helpful to have a skilful, caring and experienced person to talk to.

I work with individuals who are looking to understand their past and present difficulties, seeking to diminish the power of unhelpful defences and self-defeating patterns of behaviour.

I use a mixture of therapeutic styles including psychodynamic and relational approaches in order to support you to work on the challenges you face. I will help you to explore and understand your thoughts and feelings with the aim of helping you to be the best you can be and to realise your full potential – to be free, healthy and more self-aware.

Therapy is a weekly space just for you where you can get the support you need. Sessions last 50 minutes and are at the same time every week. I work on an open ended basis but can also offer shorter term work which can be effective for specific issues such as following a major life event.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a wide range of life experience including many years working as a senior manager for a number of charities supporting people with health, social care and special educational needs. Alongside my private practice I have worked in University, NHS and local community counselling services.

I am a Full Clinical Member of UKCP, the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (No. 2011183271) and a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP - No. 00886838).

I undertook my Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling training at The Minster Centre in London, which is affiliated with Middlesex University. This is the UK’s leading Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling Institution. I hold an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, a Diploma in Integrative Counselling, Bachelor of Law degree and MBA. I completed my Foundation Certificate in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at WPF, in London.

My work is conducted within the UKCP Code of Ethics and the BACP Ethical Framework.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
