About me

As a person-centred psychotherapist, I view the work we do together as a collaborative relationship in which our focus will be on understanding what’s going on for you.

When life feels challenging it can be helpful to have a supportive companion to explore these difficulties with while you search for meaning and sense.

I work with clients to build a relationship of safety, warmth, trust and understanding, where it's possible to talk about thoughts, feelings and perceptions that might be difficult to address, and to consider ways forward.

Since it is you who knows what hurts and what problems are crucial, you will control the process, not just in your choice of me as your therapist, but also the direction of what we work on, the depth, and the pace.

My role is not to offer advice or analysis of you and your situation. Rather I will listen carefully and respond with curiosity and interest as you explore your experiences.

By coming to understand yourself, the situation you’re in, and your relationships better, you may find a sense of living more authentically, of perceiving your experiences more clearly, of starting to view yourself with more compassion and understanding, and to grow in ways that are more satisfying for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a UKCP-registered psychotherapist and hold an MSc in Contemporary Person-Centred Psychotherapy and Application (Metanoia/Middlesex University) and a postgraduate Clinical Diploma in Person-Centred Psychotherapy from the Metanoia Institute, a leading specialist training institute for humanistically-informed psychotherapy and counselling based in Ealing, West London. I also hold a BA (Hons) in philosophy from The University of Leeds and attend regular additional training to support my ongoing professional development.

I follow the UKCP Code of Ethics and Professional Practice and am subject to their Complaints & Conduct Process. I also follow Metanoia's Code of Clinical Ethics & Professional Conduct and attend regular supervision to support me in my clinical work.

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Besides my private practice, I have worked with clients from a diverse range of backgrounds facing different challenges at therapy centres across London. Issues I've worked with include bereavement and losses of all kinds, relationship challenges, questions concerning identity and sexuality, stress, anxiety, obsessive, intrusive or paranoid thoughts, compulsive behaviours, loneliness, low moods, depression, hearing voices, work difficulties, health related issues, post-traumatic stress, career challenges, and struggles with addiction.

I also work with clients who want to use therapy as a means of personal development.

I have undertaken research into the experience of metaphor in psychotherapy, and I have a particular interest in experiences of otherness, migration and exile, lack of meaning and purpose, lost connections, spirituality, and creativity.
