About me

Whether you're facing a crisis, aiming to improve your quality of life, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, therapy can help you navigate the experience. As a psychodynamic psychotherapist my therapeutic approach centres on exploring the unconscious and often overlooked processes that influence our thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Together, we'll work to uncover patterns in your life and to build an understanding of the interplay between your past experiences and current struggles. Therapy is a collaborative process, the insight gained can help us to look at life from a different perspective, to develop a better understanding and acceptance of ourselves and to foster more meaningful relationships.

How I work:

When you work with me, I will offer you a warm and authentic space. My aim is for you to feel safe, and able to share your intimate thoughts and problems without judgement.

I work both online and in person. My clinic is in Dorking, accessible to surrounding areas such as Leatherhead, Reigate, and Redhill.

I offer shorter-term (3-6 months) and longer-term open-ended therapy. We can discuss this during the initial assessment session.

Sessions are 50 minutes long and will occur at an agreed, regular time each week.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Masters in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Counselling from the University of London, and a certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the WPF. I am currently training in Mentalisation-Based Therapy with the Anna Freud Centre.

I have experience working within the NHS and community counselling services.

Previous qualifications:

I have a Masters in Medical Anthropology (UCL), and BA in Anthropology (Durham). This training developed my understanding of how culture and individual experience overlap, and the impact this has on our experience and understanding of both mental and physical health challenges.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

First session:

If this resonates for you, please send me an email. I aim to respond within 24 hours and will invite you to a free 15 minute introductory call to see if we think we are a good fit.

We will then schedule an initial consultation of up to 60 minutes, which is an opportunity for us to talk about what is going on for you in more detail, think through what has brought you to therapy at this time and get a feel for how we might work together.

During this session, we will agree on a regular weekly time and day to meet and I can answer any questions or queries you may have about the therapy.

If your situation is outside of my clinical expertise I will do my best to assist you with a further possible referral.
