About me

We can all have times or experiences in life that feel hard, or longer-term feelings that we want to explore and try to understand. Whatever your issues, counselling can provide a safe, non-judgmental, confidential space to share and explore these experiences, feelings and what might be behind them.

I am a qualified counsellor, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work with people of all ages 18 and over.

The thought of talking about what’s going on for you may feel easy or difficult. However you’re feeling, I provide a secure empathic space for you to begin and/or continue your counselling journey. As well as working together to explore what’s going on in your conscious thoughts, I also gently encourage exploration of what may be going on unconsciously (drawing on psychodynamic principles and practice – the BACP website describes aspects of this approach). We can look at what’s going on now, and how the past may have influenced that, and how understanding this might help shape the future.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a qualified registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP, registration no. 402684), I operate in line with the BACP’s Ethical Framework and am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office. I have a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Psychodynamic) and undertake Continuing Professional Development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

If you’ve read about counselling with me and feel ready to explore the next steps, it is generally helpful for us to have a short, up to 10-minute, phone call. This will help us think about whether to work together, including considering our mutual availability for weekly counselling.

If we both want to take things forward after this, the next step is to meet for a 1-hour initial consultation. There is a £60 charge for this (whether we progress to counselling or not).

Depending on how we both feel after the consultation, we can then agree to go forward with 50-minute counselling sessions which will be weekly on the same day/time to provide consistency. These cost £55 per session. We will sign a working agreement about how we will work and our commitments to each other. As is typical of many counsellors, I charge for sessions you can’t / don’t attend, but won’t charge for sessions I cancel.

Please contact me if you want to arrange an initial phone call or consultation.

Further information

Counselling provides a safe and confidential space to share and explore experiences, feelings and what might be behind them, and how understanding all this might help shape the future.

Counselling sessions with me are 50 minutes, on the same day and time every week. I operate from a private space in a village location in the Billingshurst area, around 15-20 minutes from Horsham, with good road and rail access. I work with people of all ages 18 and over.

I typically offer in-person open-ended counselling with no fixed number of sessions but can discuss the option of short/fixed-term counselling (usually 12-18 weeks) at our initial consultation.

Please contact me if you’d like to explore counselling with me.
