About me

Have the events of the past couple of years left you feeling lost or overwhelmed? Perhaps you’re feeling sad, anxious, frustrated, or that something just isn’t right. Perhaps you find yourself stuck in old patterns, and it’s affecting relationships, work and other parts of your life. Counselling can help. It’s a way of understanding ourselves better and finding a way forward.

It can feel daunting to take the first step. It’s really important to find the right counsellor – someone you connect with. That’s why I offer an initial free 20 minute consultation. If you’re interested in finding out more, please get in touch.

Training, qualifications & experience

My training and experience enable me to tailor therapy to your unique circumstances, in a caring and non-judgemental way. I work on a short or long term basis, depending on your needs. Together we will work towards making you feel like yourself again.

My training is in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapeutic Counselling and I have worked mainly in workplace and university settings. I have extensive knowledge of the mental health sector, I am a Mental Health First Aider and I am trained in supporting people in the aftermath of a critical incident at work.

My style takes a modern approach, based on rigorous training at the Metanoia Institute in London. The training was built on key historical thinkers in psychotherapy as well as more recent research on trauma and its impact. In practice this means we talk about how you are in the world right now, and what old, unhelpful patterns from the past might be finding their way into your life. We can then work on where you want to be and how to get there.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
