About me

Welcome. My name is Musonda. I was born in Zambia and relocated to the UK where I have lived and worked for over thirty years. I am a qualified Relational/Integrative Therapist, experienced in delivering face to face and online Counselling and Psychosexual Therapy.

I work in a client centred way making this a space for you - that starts with you - and that’s where we will work from.

My approach in Counselling is relational and integrative. This means that during our work, I will use interventions underpinned by psychodynamic and Humanistic theories and include mindfulness. As part of my work with clients, I am curious about early childhood experiences and significant life events; and how these have come to shape thoughts, beliefs, and behaviour. I believe in going beneath the surface to understand your experiences and give your story a voice and meaning.

Psychosexual Therapy :  I work with various sexual difficulties including loss of desire, painful sex, vaginismus, orgasm issues, erectile and ejaculation issues.

I strive to provide a space that is confidential, non-judgemental, and safe for you to be seen, heard, and validated.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) - working towards accreditation; a Professional Associate of  the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapy (COSRT) - working towards registration; and an accredited Member with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a BA (with Upper Second Class Honours) in Theology and Counselling - Middlesex University. I have specific training in bereavement, grief and loss. MSc in Contemporary Psychosexual Therapy (University of Hull accred) - ongoing. Post-Qualifying Certificate in Relational Counselling (Relate) Accredited by CPCAB.

I am currently working with couples and individuals in private practice and with Relate Nottingham for Psychosexual Therapy.

In my counselling work, I have experience of working with a wide range of presenting issues including anxiety, abuse including sexual, suicidal ideation depression, anger, low self-esteem, self-harm etc. I have worked with young people in a college setting. I have previously volunteered counselling services to charities including Place2Be and Positive East in London.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
