About me

Deciding to embark on a counselling journey takes courage and commitment, as I know from my own experience. This understanding, coupled with professional competence and experience, enables me to offer you a compassionate, empathic and effective approach.

My own experience of childhood trauma and over 35 of years continuous training and experience running a thriving private counselling and psychotherapy practice enables me to offer you a unique service using an eclectic variety of skills and techniques tailored to each individual. Whilst my core model is Person Centred Humanistic Counselling, I am also trained in the Satir Model of Psychotherapy, Lifespan Integration (Level 3) and Sensorimotor Trauma Psychotherapy (Level 2) to my skill base, all of which use interventional strategies. I work with a wide variety of client issues and have specialised in trauma, bereavementstress management and inner child work.

I am also a yoga teacher (39 years) which flavours my work with a deep understanding of mind/body/energy patterns. I teach all my clients about mindfulness and breathing.

Since graduating with my MA (Distinction) in Transpersonal Arts and Practice (Creative Arts Therapy) from Chichester University in 2007 I have been running 'Your Body Tells Your Story' workshops which explores an individual's personal story through natural movement and creative expression.

I work in a self-contained consulting room which offers you a private, confidential and safe space. Clients remark that it is an oasis of calm for them which immediately helps them to relax.

Whilst my approach is humanistic, it also includes a variety of skills which can be used appropriately in different situations. When working with a client, I am helping them to discover and become aware of their personal patterns of survival and which ones are unhelpful or even destructive. Transforming these patterns brings relief, self-empowerment and often joy to an individual. I always focus on helping each client deepen, and often transform, their relationship with their own inner child. Achieving this influences all other relationships in a person’s life.

Some clients want to understand themselves better, others want to work through difficult emotional issues, whilst others may just want to talk through a specific current concern. All clients are important to me and I work individually with everyone.

I am dedicated to my work and love helping people to empower themselves and their lives. Nearly all of my referrals come (as they have for over 35 years) from satisfied clients through word of mouth.
