About me

Hello and welcome.

I am Michelle a qualified integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor and also a certified clinical trauma professional. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and psychotherapy (BACP).

My personal journey supporting individuals started twenty four years ago within the care industry, working with many individuals that have been impacted by physical change, mental health illness and end of life. As a care assistant/support worker I gained vast amounts of knowledge surrounding, disabilities, health, mental health and the impact this can have on the family, and how traumatic it can be accepting an individuals diagnosis, which I know very well personally.

As an integrative Counsellor I have an avid interest in trauma and how it effects us individually, being through traumatic experiences my self gives me a passion to support others in shifting blame, breaking silence and becoming a person again.

Within private practice, my main focus is for all clients to feel comfortable and confident within the therapeutic relationship with me, giving you (the client) the autonomy and space to advocate what you would like to gain from the therapy sessions. Nevertheless I understand that if this is your first time seeking therapy you may not know what to expect or how therapy works, which I struggled with too many years ago; However we can work through this together.

Within the therapeutic relationship I offer an authentic, empathic, compassionate and non-judgemental space for all clients to talk, feel safe and be heard. I personally feel this helps the connection between you and I giving you the best outcome.

I offer telephone, online and face to face appointments, which each does have it's individual prices. I also offer student rates and concessional prices for people who are in receipt of benefits.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
