About me

Hi, I’m Michelle and I am a fully trained and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapist with over 15 years experience working for NHS and privately in adult mental health.  I can offer both CBT and EMDR therapy sessions from my therapy room in NN5 as well as secure remote sessions via Microsoft Teams.

I offer treatment tailored to meet your goals and needs whilst being grounded in evidence based techniques as recommended by NICE guidelines for psychological difficulties.  Personally, I have always found it much easier to allow myself to be open, vulnerable and feel able to learn (and make mistakes) when I feel comfortable and at ease.  I therefore always strive to ensure our therapeutic sessions feel a safe and protected space to hold not only the difficulties you are experiencing but also you as an individual.

I consider myself to be a warm and friendly person who will treat you with compassion, encourage your growth and allow for humour along the way.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • BSc (Hons) in applied Psychology and Sociology
  • Post graduate diploma in Evidenced based Psychological Treatments
  • EMDR (Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing)
  • Trauma focused CBT top up training for CBT Therapists
  • Post graduate certificate in Low intensity interventions

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses and workshops including on modalities such as Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness.  Alongside additional training covering issues such as grief, insomnia, chronic pain and maternal / paternal mental health amongst many more.
