About me
Hello - I'm Michael Blades, an Integrative, Relational Psychotherapist and full member of the UCKP and member of the BACP (MBACP).
My approach relies upon the importance of the relationship between myself and you - to enable all aspects of your experience to come together as a whole. I integrate a wide range of theoretical perspectives into a core Transactional Analysis model. Including, Psychoanalysis / Object relations Theories, Attachment Theory, Gestalt, Person Centred, and numerous Transpersonal influences. All this simply means is I can respond to your needs in the most appropriate way for you as an individual.
I believe in a whole-person approach to psychotherapy that equally values all aspects of the Human experience – body, feeling, mind, soul and spirit. I’m particularly interested in the spiritual dimension of life and its place in psychotherapy. Through my MSc research in this area, I developed a unique Transpersonal perspective to my work and in addition, can also provide support to those interested in integrating non-ordinary states of consciousness arising from spiritual emergencies, psychedelic, and non-traditional religious experiences etc.
Psychotherapy can help you reconnect with a deeper understanding of who you are – your true authentic self. Take the first step towards healing and personal growth by contacting me. Based in Teesside & Newcastle, I offer online and in-person sessions and work across a broad range of issues. Online sessions are also available to those situated outside of the U.K. Please contact me to confirm my availability to work in your time zone.

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
