Meryl Lawrence (Ad Dip PC, MNCS)
I understand how important it is to talk, offload, shake off the burden sitting heavily on your shoulders. I understand how problems, no matter how small, can affect your physical health as well as your mental health and how this ripples out into your life, work and relationships. I know this from experience...
It was a normal morning, but there I was driving to work with tears streaming down my cheeks. I didn’t know what was the matter with me and what I was crying about, but it had been happening for a while, so I decided talk to someone about it. I contacted a counsellor, wondering what on earth they would do with me and I just remember what a relief it was to talk to someone who didn’t judge me, tell me I was imagining things, or stupid, give advice, suggestions or ridicule me.
They helped me work things out and helped me understand and to find a way forward, it was an amazing transformation. I already loved helping people in my job in HR, but I knew I could do more. I was motivated to learn and use my experience and so, trained to be a psychotherapist to help others.
Working with me:
My approach is person centred which means you’re at the heart of what I do. Working as an integrated counsellor, NLP practitioner and hypnotherapist, I take a holistic look at your life, present and past and use a mix of therapies and tools to support you to see more clearly and guide you to make your own changes or choices that are right for you when you are ready.
An important part of your therapy is building trust and confidence with me and you can be assured my promise to you is to offer a confidential, non-judgemental and safe environment for you to talk about what’s happening in your life, say how you are feeling, explore your emotions and be supported with respect, dignity and compassion.
