About me
I am a fully qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist, and registered member of the BACP. I offer a warm, confidential and judgement free environment where we can work through what is troubling you. You may be here as you have been struggling for a while, or perhaps you find yourself in a crisis that is difficult to cope with. Maybe you'd like to better understand yourself, or get out of patterns that are no longer helpful. We will work together to identify the thoughts, feelings and memories that lie deep beneath the surface, to get to the heart of what is distressing you. With a space to think and better understand yourself, change and a greater sense of self and wellbeing are possible.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist (MSc) at the University of London. I tailor work to the individual, and can offer short term or open ended work, depending on what feels right for you. In addition to my private practice, I work as a counsellor in higher education, hospice care, and have much experience working with cancer patients and their loved ones.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
It can feel very scary to embark on counselling, but the idea of nothing changing can feel even worse. If you reach out, we will have an initial free of charge telephone or Zoom call to discuss practicalities and we will arrange to meet in person at my consulting room in central Winchester. Our first meeting will be 60 minutes, and is an initial consultation where there is time to think about what brings you here now, and to gain a more in depth understanding of you. It is also an important chance for you to see if you might find my way of working helpful to you. If we think it would be useful, we can have a second consultation, again for 60 minutes, before deciding whether to work together.
I look forward to hearing from you.
