About me

Hi, I am Meg, I am a psychotherapist and counsellor based in Cheshire East.

My work is informed by the person-centred approach, a humanistic therapy based on the understanding that you know the best way to move forward in your life. Every individual has their own unique lived human experience, which is meaningful and powerful to you, I am here to offer a space in which you can start to explore and reconnect with your inner values. I work to facilitate growth and help you to reach your full potential. I believe you are the expert on yourself because no one else knows exactly what it is like to have lived your story.

I do this by providing a space where you can bring your whole genuine self, sessions being led by you, working in a way that is best for you. I will provide you with a non-judgemental, comfortable and warm space where you can openly express and explore what matters to you.

Seeking therapy can be both empowering and challenging, I’ll be with you every step of the way, working collaboratively at your pace to discover your own abilities and autonomy. I believe there is no ‘right way’ to do therapy, nor is there any problem too big or too small to be explored. Some clients may wish to explore intense, painful and raw feelings, others like to be challenged, some may like getting new a perspective on their story, others may bring humour and laughter to the sessions. Some clients turn up with a plan, whereas others see what comes to the surface. However you are is welcome within the sessions with me.

How I deliver therapy?

  • I offer both long term and short-term therapy, I work with what it best and most preferable for you. I do not prescribe or tell you how many sessions you need. I go at your pace and progress, being led by you.
  • I offer face-to-face from my private practice in Congleton or alternatively sessions can be delivered over video or on the telephone.

My First Session

  •  I offer a free, no obligation 15-minute ‘initial conversation’ either on the phone or video call to see if you feel comfortable talking to me and if I am the right therapist for you as well as giving you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. I believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship, ensuring you feel at ease, comfortable and trusting to work with me.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
