About me

I work with people with challenges in their personal (or work) lives. Anything from coronavirus related stress, anxiety, relationship challenges (as singles or couples), low self esteem, low confidence, depression, anger, feelings of emptiness, compulsion, sexuality, abuse....I empower clients to make lasting changes to their lives.

I am: warm hearted - authentic, accepting, empathetic are attitudes which are very important to me; confident - I can help clients address their challenges, and increase their resilience; passionate - a strong heart felt belief in the benefit of counselling to changes lives; ambitious for clients to be the best they can be in an environment that can be volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous.

I provide a safe and confidential space to support you addressing your challenges. These reviews are from clients I have worked with:

Jasmine
I have had a few counsellors now (all who have helped me progress), but Mark is by far the best at getting me to look at the deep and nitty gritty. He is consistent and remembers the important things. He has helped me open up and feel feelings I have avoided for years. He is extremely empathetic and it really goes a long way. I am still working with him and will be for the foreseeable! Highly recommend.

Sam
I found working with Mark to be truly transformative and life-changing. Mark is unfailingly open and compassionate; he really looks at the whole person in a profoundly helpful way. I always felt safe and respected in his company, and as a result was able to explore some deeply challenging memories and issues.

Geoff
I have found Mark a compassionate, empathetic listener with a laser-like concern for my well-being. He has asked good questions and I've valued his insights and perceptions. I have found him a safe person with which to be honest.

Mark 11
I worked for 24 sessions with Mark after I had faced workplace bullying and was signed off for my health and seeking to regain my confidence. Mark helped me feel valued and validated my experience, whilst also helping me gain the confidence to move house and change jobs. He showed me great kindness and wisdom throughout the process.

I was initially quite hesitant about working with a counsellor, but meeting and talking with Mark has been so helpful in responding to several significant personal challenges. His skills in reflective practice and empathy are strong, particularly in discerning what the real heart or nub of the matter is; he has enabled me to discover unpack and address some long-standing issues that warranted attention, and has done so in a very practical and caring fashion. If you’re apprehensive or nervous about working with a counsellor, Mark is really good person to go to and meet with, to show that talking with someone really ‘works’.

Thank you Mark.
I initially contacted Mark for joint counselling with my partner in the hope of relationship salvage uniquely related to Covid-19.
After only 2 joint sessions I continued with Mark on my own. I questioned whether now would be the time to seek a female counsellor. I am so thankful I didn’t. Mark has a brilliant mind and gently steers you on a good path. Expertly. The reflective time in between sessions accelerated me to heal more relatively quickly than I have before after heartbreak. I am 64 and female, never having had counselling ever before in my life and from past experience I knew I was already on the healing path but wanted that process to be as quick as possible from the emotional damage. I had 4 more sessions then felt completely ready to fly the nest. I cannot recommend Mark highly enough.
They key words that jumped off his resumee page for me personally were “empathetic, passionate and authentic.” Those qualities resonated in me personally and Mark has them all in abundance. Job very well done Mark. I would not hesitate to return to you in the future If I need to.
Many true thanks. Take care. Glenda x

I have spoken to mark 3 times now from the very beginning he appreciated my concerns and made me very comfortable and able to open up about my problems . I have still got to converse with mark as have not finished my counselling .I feel at ease and can tell mark everything and his counselling has so far helped me so much.

Angie
Mark was excellent. He made us feel at easy and was sympathetic. Our marriage was at breaking point and even after one session we were making progress. He made us look at things differently. Would recommend Mark to anyone struggling.

Michelle
Mark is not only compassionate and open but also has real empathy. He made both my husband and myself feel at ease and relaxed during our sessions. He also managed to enable us to confront our issues honestly by asking questions that were either too difficult to acknowledge or that we had not considered previously.

I have only recently started to work with Mark in relation to my counselling needs. In the first few weeks Mark has put me at ease and created a open minded forum of discussion. Mark is someone who makes you instantly feel assured that everything will be ok. Just what you need in a counsellor.

Elle Binns

Other clients

“I worked with Mark after a very difficult period in my private and professional life. Mark was very helpful in assisting me identify the root causes of these difficulties and helping me put in place strategies to cope/improve/avoid scenarios. Mark is a perceptive coach who works sympathetically with you to first understand, secondly challenge and finally identify and accompany you down the route to resolution. I am very grateful for his assistance”.

March 2020 “I worked with Mark at a very difficult and stressful time...Mark provided excellent support over a period of many months – he really sought to understand the challenges I was facing, and the personal effect on me and my family - and his [counselling] helped me remain resilient and build on the support already available to me elsewhere.  Mark has huge experience that he brings from working with individuals facing similar challenges and I felt that Mark’s insight into strategies for personal coping and resilience made a massive difference to me and how I was able to positively respond to the challenges I was dealing with”.
