About me

If you've ever had traumatic experiences, it can feel like a painful wound that never heals. A natural response is to cover this wound, hide it, and numb the pain any way you can. And because others can't see it they may brush up against your wound and have no idea why it causes you such pain.

My name's Lynda, I'm a counsellor and trauma therapist helping clients to cope with the impacts of past wounds, heal, and move past them. It can be really hard to articulate the impacts of trauma because it makes itself known in many ways that we may not be aware of, including common issues such as anxiety and depression. But although issues like anxiety and depression are often trauma-related, they're not always so it's still possible to work with me!

If you're struggling in relationships, feeling depressed and/or anxious, emotionally reactive at work, feeling cut off from yourself and others, and generally finding life a challenge, then these could be post-traumatic responses. None of this means there's anything wrong with you, just that bad stuff might have happened to you.

I'm passionate about working in this area and have worked as a volunteer counsellor for a charity that offers therapy to male and female abuse survivors. I helped these clients to explore and understand the impacts of their traumatic experiences on their present lives.

I work with trauma differently to traditional talking therapies (including CBT) which may encourage you to talk about the trauma itself. Instead, I work to help you process its impacts and change how you feel about it. Knowing the courage this takes, I offer an experience based on empathy, understanding, and trust.

If you'd like to start your journey towards post-traumatic healing and growth please get in touch to arrange a free 20 minute chat where we can explore the possibility of working together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a PG Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy from Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute in Nottingham.

I also have additional training in trauma-informed therapy.

I'm a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and on their accredited register, meeting high standards of training, professionalism, and ethics.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
