About me

I am a counsellor based in Liphook Hampshire, and work face to face with clients in Haslemere and Farnham. I also work online and via telephone meaning I will work with clients all over the country. I also do home visits.

I am passionate about helping people improve their mental health and encouraging clients to grow and overcome their issues. I work with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, ill-health, grief and bereavement, identity issues, anger management, work related issues, relationship issues, trauma, stress, self-esteem and health related issues. I have a specialist interest in chronic illness, cancer and bereavement/grief counselling and working as both a nurse and a counsellor helps me have a better understanding of certain medical conditions and how illness can affect so many aspects of your life.

I  work with you to help you explore your issues to help you gain a better understanding of yourself to initiate the changes you are hoping to make.  I work with you at your pace, to help you understand why you may feel like you do, and support you in making the changes you want in your life.

I work with different counselling theories including person-centered theory and psychodynamic theory. This means that I am client led - I am beside you on your counselling journey and individualise therapy to suit you and do not “advise” you. This is important because only you know how you feel. Sometimes it can be helpful to explore the past to be able to move forward.

As well as being a counsellor, I have been a Nurse in the NHS for 30 years. Much of my career has been working in cancer and palliative care, and I have worked as a Macmillan Nurse, Macmillan Breast Care Nurse Specialist and in the hospital and hospice setting.

This includes bereavement and grief counselling. I am also an affiliate counsellor at The Eaves Counselling and Psychology Service in Farnham.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
